Are you a traveller who requires COVID-19 testing?

Our clinic, conveniently located at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel is just steps away from the Vancouver cruise ship terminal. We can quickly provide you with the accurate test results you need to travel safely for both cruise and airlines travel requirements.

We offer Rapid Antigen Tests and NAAT Tests (RT-LAMP with PCR accuracy) on-site and virtually via telehealth. Test kits for virtual testing can be picked up at our clinic

FAQs

WHAT ARE THE EXCEPTIONS TO YOUR TESTING?

We are not able to test travellers entering Hong Kong or China, as the governments for said countries will require a PCR molecular test which needs to be processed in a laboratory. Please ensure to check the government website of your destination for specific requirements.

The Canadian government’s mandatory PCR testing will also not be tested by Empower Clinics as they are specifically partnered with LifeLabs public health. Please visit this page for further information if you have been selected for random testing by the Canadian governemnt upon arrival in Canada.

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET TESTED?
Walk-in service is available, but may be limited or may not be available during peak hours.  We encourage guests to make an appointment on our webpage for both in-person and virtual testing. 
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION?
We are open daily from 8am – 4pm.  If you are a group with testing needs outside of these normal hours of operation, please contact us at cruisetesting@empowerclinics.com and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
DO YOU OFFER TESTING TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC?
Yes, we do! Our test results are also approved by airlines so if you need your results to fly, we can provide both a physical and electronic copy.
WHAT TEST IS REQUIRED TO BOARD A CRUISE SHIP OUT OF VANCOUVER AND WHEN DO I NEED TO TAKE IT?
We encourage guests to check with their cruise lines for specific testing requirements well in advance of their date of sailing and their website prior to sailing for the most up to date policies. Transport Canada requires all cruise guests to take an antigen test within 48 hours prior to boarding or a PCR test 72 hours prior to boarding but the exact time frame for specific cruises may vary. Please note that some cruise lines may require testing within 24 hours. 
WHAT TYPE OF ANTIGEN TEST WILL I RECEIVE AT YOUR CLINIC?
We offer a mid nasal Rapid SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Test.
WHAT TYPE OF PCR TEST WILL I RECEIVE AT YOUR CLINIC?

We offer the Lucira RT-LAMP, a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) that offers the same accuracy as high-sensitive PCR tests (98% accuracy). The RT-LAMP Test Kit is a molecular diagnostic test that does not require laboratory processing. RT-LAMP tests can be used to confirm diagnosis or suffice requirements for stricter travel protocols such as ones required for travelling to Japan (we will provide additional documentation required for travel to Japan specifically). Please note RT-LAMP tests are not accepted for travel to Hong Kong or China.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY TEST RESULTS?

Your antigen test or RT-LAMP results will be available within 1 hour from sample collection. Results will be sent electronically. A hardcopy of your results can be obtained onsite for those who do not have access to an electronic device.

In-person testing: Rapid Antigen Test $120 CDN
RT-LAMP (NAAT/PCR accuracy) $250 CDN

Virtual testing: Rapid Antigen Test Kit $100 CDN
RT-LAMP Test Kit $200 CDN
Test kits are available for purchase at the clinic for self-administration via remote telehealth consult.

IS VIRTUAL TESTING AVAILABLE?
Yes. Schedule an appointment to pick-up the test kit on our webpage, then we’ll make a telehealth appointment for you to conduct your test virtually.
WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE ACCEPTED?
We accept all major credit cards and cash. Please be advised that no currency exchanges will be made onsite. USD cash will be collected at par to the CND pricing.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY RAPID ANTIGEN TEST RESULT IS POSITIVE?
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
For cancellations or refund requests, please give us a call at +1 (855) 855 9059, or send us an email at cruisetesting@empowerclinics.com. Refunds are subjected to a $50.00 CND cancellation fee. Please note refunds will not be applied retroactively, if you have missed an appointment or requested a cancellation after your appointment time, we will not be able to issue a refund. For extenuating circumstances and upon providing evidence, a refund may be issued subjected to the regular cancellation fee.
